A Nigth To Remember - Interview with Evergrey - Milan – September 29 2009

Here Below the Interview that we have done with mighty Evergrey before the Italian gig

1. [TOM] Everything, except the English gig, has been going really good. We have been getting some fantastic reactions from all the people we have been playing so far. So we just hope to continue today and then we gonna go to England and kill that guy! [laugh] [HENRIK] We will send the mafia!! [laugh] [RIK] La Famiglia!! [laugh] [ME] We can provide some good contacts [laugh]

2. [TOM] We didn’t have any problem. Our album has been out for a year now, but there are many bands that have albums that are supposed to come out the last six months, I guess they have some real problems. It looks like someone has bought SPV and we don’t know … we are not in the position right now we have to care.

3. [JONAS] I don’t think we think about making songs. When we think that we have good enough songs, we record them! We have never tough about “we need to make an album that sounds more this or more that”…we start and I think it’s a very natural progression.

4. [RIK] I don’t think we are gonna do another video for TORN, since the situation with SPV…, but I don’t know… maybe they will cash in and we will do something cool, and Patrick is always a great guy to work with!

5. [TOM] I think it will gonna take long while before we will release a new DVD, first of all I don’t think we have … I mean off course we will play other songs … I think we need a couple of more albums to make the new DVD. I think off course we can release something that maybe is like “behind the scenes” material, like acoustic shows we have done, or stuff likes that. I don’t think we will do an extended video like the last time with many cameras and all that stuff…very much money and very much work … and we also want to make it, you know, hopefully better than that one!

6. [JONAS] They are not so many [laugh] [ME] Yeah…we are working on this! [HENRIK] When we played in Gods of Metal…before to start to play all the people said “Evergrey, Evergrey…” and when we hit the last note “Maiden…Maiden” [laugh] But we can tell that the Italian fans are really passionate…passionate for music!

7. The food…and Italian national team of football, we don’t like!

8. [TOM] It’s different for all of us…I’m not only interested in metal, I listen to Pink Floyd, pop, lot of stuff…i think it enriches my musical ability. [Jonas] I think my biggest influence is KISS. [Rik] Right now I’m really into Swedish metal from the 80’s…Spellbound, Madison, Torch…a lot of bands. [Jari] Bass Players like Billy Sheenan, stuff like this…and Geezer Butler! [Henrik] KISS…it’s really funny that Jonas is a KISS maniac and I’m so much older than him…[Rik] I think is more about good and bad music… you can find good pop songs and terrible metal bands…it’s all about good music!

9. [TOM] I’m not that interested in really what I play, but what I play is enough good for me… but I’m off course very happy with the things that I have and it’s important for me that they work, but I try to keep my stuff as minimum as possible, and I’m very happy..especially with the guitars. [Jonas] I use pearl and I’m really happy with it. I’m actually interested more in guitars. To compare them both [drums and guitars] drums are just boring [laugh]. Maybe I had really a bad decision when I was 10 years old and started to play drums [laugh]…guitar rules…but drums are ok! [laugh] [ME] Ok, thank you all guys!!!
