An Evening with Evergrey: My Interview and Pics about Evergrey's Live @ Brescia, Italy
Here below the short transcript of the Interview: i had the luck to spend some time with the guys. Maybe the best parts have not been recorded ;)
1. Big changes In Evergrey both for Masterminds Tom and Rik, and for the new members. How it happened the first contact between all of you? Were you already friends?
[JOHAN] Evergrey had tour with us...i've played with Therion before, they were supporting us. I know Markus spoke ...couple of years ... he played heavy metal covers .. He (Tom) called him (Markus) and i (Johan) said ... NO NO!! (laugh) [MARKUS]...I've met him (Tom) a week later at the bar ... drinkink beer ... he said come on ... you have to join!!!
2. How's changed your professional life during the last period?
[TOM] These last 10 days were the worst ten days of my life, that's unbelievable... has been so much shit going home ... unbelievable. [MARKUS] You know what happened (Markus refers to the sad episode during the Rome day: someone has stolen part of the instrumentation and some money). [MARKUS] So much changes...
[JOHAN] It used to be good...[MARKUS] I used to have little money... i used.
3. I saw some live videos with the new members and you already perform as one consolidated band. Do you think this alchemy will be reflected also in the songwriting for the new album?
[MARKUS] We got togheter quite fast. Quite soon when we started to play we said: ok, the band now is getting more and more ... like everybody can put their stuff in the songs.
4. Eleven is a "Magic Number" for the songs of Evergrey's Albums. Do you think this tradition will continue?
[TOM] Yes! (laugh), actually yes...eleven songs!
5. Evergrey sound is evolved from album to album: how will this evolution continue in the new album?
[TOM] I don't really know, i mean... off course it's gonna change, since we have new members and that's pretty much what we always had for every album, so i think that it's also part of the evolution of the sound. I think it's gonna be in a big way this time. [JOHAN] It (new album) will sound like Evergrey, no matter what...anyway!
[ME] Just four more questions... [TOM typing on PC] No problems...i've just to deal with this Police Shit (stolen instruments) at the same time...because the Internet is about to die! (laugh)
6. Evergrey don't spend much time on cover songs, except for "I'm Sorry" of Dilba. Do you plan to cover other great songs in the future?
[MARKUS] Born in the USA of Bruce Springsteen (laugh). There are some songs that would be, you know, really nice to try to do something like "evergreyish", but we will see.
We have talked about...[TOM] Sweet home Alabama (laugh) [MARKUS] If we can do something good...maybe...why not!
7. Tom, are you planning a tour with Death Destruction (the new band of the two ex-members Henrik and Jonas) in the future?
[TOM] Right now i'm not planning... no more tours...ever! (laugh).. [ME] I was joking (laugh) [TOM] Mee to...maybe (laugh).
8. How do you select the playlist for the live concerts and why Mark of the Triangle is no more part of the list?? :)
[TOM] Maybe... We will play it in the show. [ME] Great news for me! Thank you! (laugh)
9. Tell me one wish for your professional live for the next three years.
[TOM] In the next 2 days...is to get home. [ME] Rik say something, you've said nothing (laugh) [RIK] Something! (laugh) [ME] You're a jester! (laugh)
[RIK] It's good that you had questions for the new guys. We've spoken many times (laugh). [ME] Yeah...myspace..
[MARKUS] We wish the new album really much...That's my wish...to find the right people to work with...i know that the new album can be great: we need to find professional great people to work with.
Thanks guys!!
